American Idol judge Randy Jackson will umpire a celebrity tennis match.

The record producer is no stranger to keeping over-zealous contestants under control for his role on the TV talent show. He has now agreed to monitor a US Open doubles match between Will Ferrell, Matthew Perry and tennis legends John McEnroe and Jim Courier. The game will take place on September 8 before the evening session of the prestigious competition.

“Who could be a better judge than Randy Jackson? This will be a lot of fun,” a US Open tournament spokesman told New York Post.

Funnyman Ferrell is expected to wear a hilarious outfit for the match.

“To guess what Ferrell will wear is as impossible as predicting who will win the tournament,” the spokesman added.

The 2011 US Open began yesterday in Flushing Meadows, New York. Famous faces attending the session included Susan Sarandon and Donald Trump.
