The new NBC series The Playboy Club, which is set in 1963 Chicago, is going to feature modern stars playing artists of the 60's. On tap so far is Javier Colon, winner of NBC's The Voice, as Ray Charles, Colbie Caillat as Lesley Gore and Raphael Saadiq as Sam Cooke. The songs will be made available on iTunes the Friday before the Monday premier of each episode.

Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell are getting ready to record an album together and there's a strong possibility that the set will include the original Hot Band.
Harris told the L.A. Times "This is a duet record between me and Rodney, and that’s the main thing. It’s looking like we’re going to have the original Band, at least in some form, and everybody’s excited about it but I don’t want to lose track of the fact that this whole idea I’ve been carrying around for so long is that for about a week, the Hot Band was me and Rodney, sitting around, with my little songbook of all the songs I’d written down in pencil in my little notebook: the Geroge Jones songs, the Don Gibson songs, all the songs I was learning.
"It was Rodney and me with two acoustic guitars just going at it doing duets, Sweet Dreams, wonderful stuff, so that’s what we want to get back to. And of course the Hot Band would be the icing on the cake."

Chaka Khan and her sister, Tammy McCrary, have gone to court and won the temporary custody of Khan's ten-year-old granddaughter. According to TMZ, they told the court that she already was the day-to-day guardian and that the mother and father (Chaka's son) are not capable of taking care of her child because of heavy drug use.
Another hearing will be held in October to possibly make the custody permanent.

Early projections for next week's Album chart show that George Strait, the Beatles and the Red Hot Chili Peppers will all, most likely, stay in the top ten while Anthrax will move around 25,000 copies of their new album to make the top 15.
