Queen's Roger Taylor has told Billboard that the group is in negotiations to tour with Adam Lambert out front. "He has grown into a really great performer with an astonishing voice with a range that's great. We would like to work with him again. There's nothing signed just yet but we're talking about live dates. It could be very exciting."
Metallica threw a party on Monday night, the first of four this week, celebrating their 30th anniversary. As they stated early, this wasn't a Metallica concert but a party and a number of eclectic artists interpreted the group's songs including the Soul Rebels and Apocolyptica.
Among special guests were the late-Cliff Burton's father, Ray, who told stories about his son's time with the band. The last three hours, though, was a concert by the band where they played hits and rarities and brought out a line of special guests including John Marshall (Metal Church), members of Diamond Head, Biff Byford (Saxon) and former Metallica bassist Jason Newstead.
Dave Brubeck turned 91 on Tuesday and, to celebrate, the RIAA announced that his landmark album Time Out had been certified double platinum (2,000,000 in sales).
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers have been named as one of the headliners for 2012's Isle of Wight festival in the U.K. It is the first time the group has played any festival in that country and their first major show in England in twenty years.
B.J. Thomas will perform the national anthem and perform at halftime at the Hyundai Sun Bowl on December 31.
Barbara Orbison, the widow of Roy Orbison, has passed away at the age of 60. According to her family, she had been hospitalized since May.
The couple married in 1969 and had two sons. Barbara was the head of the Nashville, TN based Still Working Music and was instrumental in putting together the 2008 box set of her husband's music.
