Pepsi will unveil a new advertisements during the X-Factor on Wednesday night called "Music Icons" that includes Michael Jackson, Ray Charles, Kanye West, Britney Spears and Mariah Carey. The ad will feature each with their classic Pepsi campaign (i.e., Ray Charles' "You Got the Right One Baby, Uh Huh").
The O'Jays will be honored by the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF) on Wednesday as part of their Celebration of Leadership conference at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington.
Queen is forming its own tribute band. In a talk with Rolling Stone, Roger Taylor said "Let’s face it, we’re getting a little long in the tooth, but there are an awful lot of tribute bands, some of them good, some of them not good. I’m quite convinced that there are tens of thousands of kids, of really talented people, in their bedrooms around the world playing drums, guitar, and singing. And I want to find some of those people."
Natalie Cole will speak to the National Press Club in Washington on October 19 about Hepatitis C. Cole has suffered from the disease for more than 25 years and is currently part of the Tune in to Hep C campaign. She said "There is a stigma around chronic hepatitis C because it's associated with IV drug use. But it doesn't matter how you got the virus, it matters what you do about it. "That's why I've joined the Tune In to Hep C campaign to share my story and motivate people to take the next step by speaking to their doctor. Doing nothing is not an option."
The second of two books by Craig Hopkins on the life of Stevie Ray Vaughan is due to come out in November. Stevie Ray Vaughan: Day by Day, Night After Night: His Final Years 1983-1990 covers Vaughan and Double Trouble's recording career from their debut album to his death. The book follows 2010's His Early Years 1954-1982.
