Jon Anderson, formerly of Yes, told Rolling Stone that he's had a chance to hear the track We Can Fly from the group's upcoming album. "I wasn't really convinced. The new singer is singing good, but it sounded a bit dated to me. Also, the production wasn't as good as I expected. They've got a great producer with Trevor Horn, so what the hell are you doing?"
Anderson was unceremoniously replaced in the group a couple of years ago, finding out from a friend rather than anyone in the band.


Neil Young's Le Noise did not make it to the short list for Canada's Polaris Prize. Although on the long list, the finalists are made up of Arcade Fire, Austra, Braids, Destroyer, Galaxie, Hey Rosetta!, Ron Sexsmith, Colin Stetson, Timber Timbre and The Weeknd.


Bret Michaels' lawsuit against CBS and the producers of the Tony Awards has been ordered moved from Los Angeles to New York by a federal judge. Michaels claims that his injury at the June 2009 show when he was hit in the head with a descending set caused his later brain hemorrhage.


Another group is looking at a catalog resurgence on vinyl. UFO will have nine of their albums re-released on heavyweight LPs with gatefold sleeves with the first 1,000 of each going out on colored vinyl. In the release will be Phenomenon (1974), Force It (1975), No Heavy Petting (1976), Lights Out (1977), Obsession (1978), Strangers in the Night (1979), No Place to Run (1980), The Wild, the Willing and the Innocent (1981), Mechanix (1982), Making Contact (1983) and Misdemeanor (1985).


Weird Al Yankovic asks artists for permission to parody their songs, even though he legally doesn't have to, and normally they give their permission. That wasn't the case when he asked Paul McCartney if he could parody Live and Let Die as Chicken Pot Pie.
McCartney, being a strict vegetarian, turned him down because of the title but said "Think of any other subject and I’m happy to OK it."


George Martin received an honorary degree from Oxford University during their recent graduation ceremonies. Ever humble, he said "I’m delighted to receive this accolade. I’ve been lucky enough to work with brilliant collaborators from many fields of music and the arts."


Dolly Parton was given the Crystal Apple award by the American Association of School Librarians for Imagination Library project. The Imagination Library program allows communities to send an age appropriate book to children under the age of five each month to help encourage an early love of reading.
