Pete Townshend, Boy George and Joss Stone lead Prince's Trust Rock Gala concert

Pete Townsend headed a star studded cast at last night’s Prince's Trust Rock Gala concert at to raise funds for disadvantaged young people.

Joss Stone, Boy George and Julian Lennon all sang with the ‘house band’ which included 80s aficionados Nik Kershaw, Midge Ure and Level 42’s Mark King.

Other musical talent taking to the stage was Chris de Burgh, Cerys Matthews, Alison Moyet, and Kenney Jones.

Saxophonist YolanDa Brown, and classical music star Charlie Siem also took part as well as comedian Tim Minchin.
The event was hosted by Edith Bowman and Patrick Kielty.

A slender Alison Moyet sang ‘Slave to the Rhythm’, Boy George gave a heartfelt rendition of Culture Club classic ‘Do you Really Want to Hurt Me’ and Julian Lennon dedicated ‘Saltwater’ to his mum in the audience.

Joss Stone looked gorgeous and in fine voice singing ‘New Born’ and ‘Super Duper Love’ and you could hear a pin drop when Cerys Matthews sang a stripped back ‘Love Me Tender’. Who legend Pete Townshend played five acoustic tracks including ‘I’m One’, ‘Acid Queen’ and ‘Won’t Get Fooled Again’ to round off a worthwhile evening of music.

The grand finale saw everyone return back on stage for a fired up version of David Bowie’s ‘Heroes’.
