One Direction feel out of place "scoffing hot dogs" at awards.

The Brit boyband was formed on The X Factor UK in 2010 and is made up of Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik.

Despite being some of the biggest musicians on the planet, the lads aren't convinced they fit in at fancy red-carpet dos.

"The BRITs are always great. We feel more comfortable there," Niall revealed to the British edition of OK! magazine.

"I've got all the awards that we've won at each side of my TV. At the awards, everyone was sitting around with their sunglasses on, and we were sitting there with soft drinks and foot-long hot dogs - Louis turned to me during Justin Timberlake's performance and goes, 'We're literally the worst celebrities that have ever walked the planet.'"

Louis added: "Everyone takes it very seriously, likes to sip champagne and look beautiful. We're just scoffing hot dogs and drinking Coca-Cola!"

The boys are currently on their Where We Are Tour, which will end in Miami on October 5. They go straight back out on the On the Road Again Tour in February and admit their jet-setting lifestyle can be tough.

"I can't really do 'on my own time'. I have to have someone's attention," Louis confessed.

Niall added: "I can understand that. It can be quite frustrating stuck in a hotel."

And all five admit hygiene can take a hit when they're on the tour bus. Louis will even wear the same underwear two days in a row, if needs must.

"Let's not talk about your underwear..." Zayn joked.
