A competition to offer a Northampton band the opportunity to perform on stage at Alive at Delapre has been announced by Northampton Borough Council.

The lucky winners will be selected to showcase their talent by warming up a crowd of thousands before Boyzone headline the gig at Delapre Park on Sunday 20 July.

The competition will take place at the annual Walk in the Park Festival at Wooton Rec on 5 July, where local bands will battle it out to win their spot on the Alive at Delapre stage.

Councillor Brandon Eldred, Northampton Borough Council cabinet member for community engagement, said: “Northampton is well known for its quality music scene and we’re fortunate to have live music played all year round.

“This competition will give the opportunity to highlight our town’s musical talent and give local musicians a once in a life time experience performing to thousands of people as the support act to international stars.”

For a chance to take part in the competition, clips and demos must be emailed to cllr.beldred@northampton.gov.uk. For more information, visit: www.woottonpc.co.uk
