Nile Rodgers didn't even realise there were 137 countries when he heard how successful Get Lucky had been.

The multi Grammy Award-winning artist co-wrote the song with band Daft Punk and super producer Pharrell Williams. It was a smash hit across the globe, something he didn't expect at all.

"No, never. When someone told me that Get Lucky had gone to No 1 in something like 137 countries, I was like, 'Are you kidding? I didn't even know there were 137 countries.' It was just one of those weird phenomena that happen, but none of us knew it. We were just doing what we felt good about in our hearts - we were just doing our job," he told British magazine Heat.

Nile has worked with some of the biggest artists in the business, among them Madonna, David Bowie and Diana Ross. Teaming up with other stars never gets old for the 61-year-old musician, and neither does seeing other celebrities. He can vividly recall how excited he was when he spotted British actor Simon Pegg, with Nile embarrassed about how obviously in awe he was.

"I'm always starstruck. Last year, I was doing a radio interview and we were talking about a pretty serious subject and Simon Pegg walked in and I said on the air, 'Shaun of the f**king Dead!' Thank God they beeped me out," he laughed.

The star is happy to discuss the people he's worked with, but quizzed on his favourites he was much more of a gentleman.

"Oh, come on, that's impossible to say! There has been no one I have worked with I don't like. I've been the luckiest guy in the world," he said.
