Nick Jonas is sure Miley Cyrus will "kill it" as host of the MTV Video Music Awards.

Last month it was announced the controversial pop star will lead the show at the Microsoft Theater in LA on August 30.

While some might be unsure if Miley, 22, is the right choice, she has full support from her ex Nick, also 22.

"The more I think about the VMAs the more I think about how much @MileyCyrus is gonna kill it as the host. #greatchoicemtv @MTV (sic)," he supported the decision on Twitter.

And the Jealous singer also teased he might be making a special appearance on the night, because he followed his tweet up with: "Big things coming.. Stay tuned (sic)"

Whether Miley can top her 2013 performance remains to be seen, but there's no doubt she will give it a go. At the awards show two years ago she shocked viewers by twerking provocatively while on stage with Robin Thicke, 38, who was married to Paula Patton at the time.

Whatever surprises she has up her sleeve this year, she'll have to make sure she doesn't go gossiping to Tom Cruise. The Mission: Impossible star proved an unlikely leak when he revealed R&B singer The Weeknd would be performing at the VMAs this year last night.

"I had a blast on @JimmyFallon doing #CantFeelMyFace. Wait till you see the real @TheWeeknd perform it at the @MTV #VMAs on Aug 30. (sic)," he excitedly tweeted, letting the cat out of the bag.
