Nick Jonas has confirmed he'll be performing his new single as part of the MTV Video Music Awards.

The 22-year-old hunk is flying high in his career at the moment following the release of his solo singles Jealous and Chains, from his second self-titled album.

Earlier this month Nick hinted at making an appearance during the annual ceremony when he showed his support for host Miley Cyrus. Now fans can rejoice as Nick has revealed details about his involvement with the August 30 ceremony through a cheesy Instagram video.

"You’re probably wondering why I’m waking up at 5am?” he says to the camera as he sits up and gets out of his larger-than-life bed to put a dressing gown on. "Well I have a ginormous announcement. I have a new single called Levels. It comes out August 21 and I'll be performing it for the first time on the VMAs pre-show."

By the end of the clip Nick is suited and booted as he stands outside a lift, seemingly ready to get to the venue.

The only other big name said to be belting out vocals during the event is The Weeknd, though his performance appeared to have been let out the bag accidently when Tom Cruise announced it on Twitter.

Miley was confirmed as host last month, having gone down in history following her raunchy performance alongside Robin Thicke in 2013. She shared her delight at the job on Instagram alongside a shot of herself wearing a green alien costume and holding signs.

“F**k yeah VMAs!!!!! #VMAs on @MTV Aug 30 at 9pm,” she captioned the shot.
