Nathan Sykes finds chat-up lines "cringey".

The 22-year-old is currently busy promoting his solo music after his band The Wanted went on a break at the beginning of last year.

He had a high-profile romance with pop princess Ariana Grande but since their split in 2013, Nathan admits he's struggling with being back in the dating game.

"I've never had any flirting experiences. That's part of the problem. I'm just like, 'Alright' and then hope a conversation happens," he told British newspaper The Mirror. "I find chat-up lines cringey. I think there are classier ways of pulling someone."

Nathan's latest track Kiss Me Quick is already proving a hit with fans and the singer is gearing up to release his debut album later this year. Although he's had a lot of people comment on how surprised they are by his sound, the star is pleased he's been able to impress people.

He's also made some time for pleasure amid his hectic schedule, and is holidaying in clubbing capital Ibiza this summer.

"I'm petrified," he said of the getaway. "I've never been before but I'm 22 and I haven't really had the opportunity to do it. Before it gets incredibly busy again I'm going with a few mates."

It's no wonder Nathan has continued to make music by himself as he recently spoke about how he felt too young to quit the industry following the hiatus of The Wanted. It wasn't long after the announcement that he realised he didn't want to step back and the star is now determined to follow through on his own.

"I wasn't going to crawl into a hole somewhere," Nathan told Teen Vogue.
