Natasha Bedingfield prefers to sing about subjects that are 'dear to people's hearts'.
The songstress released her album Strip Me Away in June.
Natasha says straying from her pop roots on the record to explore country music was an inspiring experience.
'I just sing about life,' Natasha explained on American talk programme Fox & Friends TV this morning. 'I think that love happens to be one of those subjects that is dear to people's hearts. I love how country music is about real things.'
Natasha wants her audience to feel good about themselves. She is teaming up with beauty product company Dove for a self-esteem raising initiative to promote self-confidence.
'I'm kicking off the [campaign this] weekend, but the whole point of it is to just to encourage women all across America to spend an hour with a young woman in their life,' Natasha explained.
'I've always loved the way that Dove advertises their products, because it's about real women. I do feel like every woman feels like their self-esteem is challenged by the images that we have or the perfect images we're trying to live up to.'
Natasha does not believe that maintaining self-esteem is a simple task. The singer admits that being content with one's body is a process.
'I'm pro the body,' Natasha said. 'It takes a lot of work to be comfortable in your own body, so anything that helps!'
