Proud Camden is set to play host to Moby on Tuesday 17th May to celebrate the joint launch of his tenth studio album 'Destroyed', and a new art photography book by the same name.
'Destroyed' is a behind-the-scenes international odyssey with Moby, introducing a side of touring that is often unexposed: secluded time spent in artificial spaces, from hotel rooms and airports to backstage waiting areas are juxtaposed by images of flashing cameras and clamouring fans.
Written late at night in hotel rooms around the world, the album and photo book combine to provide an intimate look at Moby's world and his creative process as an artist: both the music and photos were created in the same period and draw inspiration from the strange and sublime world of touring.
For a limited period (18th May ' 19th June 2011), fifty-four images from 'Destroyed' ' Moby's first complete published work ' will be on display at Proud Camden, giving visitors an unrivalled opportunity to see a large selection of the photographs exhibited at once.
Moby himself will be taking to Proud Camden's famous Main Gallery stage to play an exclusive DJ set at the official launch after-party on May 17th, which will be open to the public from 8.30pm following the VIP private view (VIP tickets available on request). Joining him will be Man Without Country, D/R/U/G/S and Rex the Dog.
In keeping with the evening's theme of the industrial sublime and surreal, euphoric dance duo D/R/U/G/S, will be delivering a live and layered set featuring their own tracks and remixes. As well known for their regenerative live performances as for their suave and smooth take on dance music, expect this duo to deliver the perfect audio accompaniment to Moby's deployed deserted cityscapes that will be adorning the walls of the Grade II listed Horse Hospital.
Also performing on the night will be Cardiff ones to watch, Man Without Country. Recently championed by BBC Radio 1's Introducing, the trio bring an exclusive live performance of glacial guitar ripples spliced with electronic ambience and a synth-pop pulse. About to release their first studio album, which has been mixed by the legendary Ken Thomas (Sigur Ros, M83) and carries a sense of unease and paranoia, expect a live set filled with throbbing bass, glistening synths and pulsating drums... their shoe-gazing, delay-drenched sound magnified magnificently.
Rex the Dog completes the line up at Proud Camden, combining anthemic dance remixes with an energetic live electronic / house set. Their acclaimed album 'The Rex The Dog Show' follows remixes for the likes of Depeche Mode, The Knife, The Prodigy, Goldfrapp, Fever Ray, Royksopp.
Tickets to the public event will be available for £5, with all profits donated by Moby to the charity War Child (www.warchild.org.uk)
