Mindy McCready was mourned and buried in Fort Myers, Florida on Tuesday.
The tragic country music singer died in an apparent suicide on Sunday February 17.
The 37-year-old mother-of-two was found dead from a single gunshot wound to the head on the porch of her Heber Springs, Arkansas home.
At the Crossroads Baptist Church in her native Fort Myers, 400 grievers filled the holy edifice to bid their final farewells, People magazine reports.
A white hearse carried Mindy’s body in a wooden casket to the location.
The crooner’s songs, including I’m Still Here and Ten Thousand Angels, were played throughout the ceremony and mourners saw images of her life flash before them on two large screens located at opposite ends of the chapel.
Mindy’s mother Gayle Inge addressed the crowd through floods of tears.
"Mindy adored her two children. She wanted them to know that. Through much agony and pain, she went to heaven,” Gayle sobbed.
“She is no longer sick. She is healed. Thank you for all who are here. Please pray for those boys. No matter what, she will always be my little girl, sitting in her car seat, singing into a hairbrush. The world was her stage."
Mindy will be buried in Fort Myers.
Her death occurred days after she left a court-ordered substance abuse treatment programme.
She had been experiencing a fraught time of late, following the death of her fiancé David Wilson in January. His passing is still being investigated by police, although it is thought he also killed himself on the same porch where Mindy's body was found.
Mindy struggled with mental health and alcohol abuse for several years and tried to commit suicide several times before. She was hospitalised for slitting her wrists in 2008.
She is survived by two young sons: Zander, six, with Billy McKnight, and Zayne, 10 months, fathered by the late David.
