Miley Cyrus is fine with being called "crazy".

The 21-year-old singer's wild antics have made her a headline staple. She famously dyed her hair bright blonde and cropped it in a bid to say goodbye to her Disney alter ego Hannah Montana, and her sexual onstage performances have raised eyebrows too.

Miley is unaffected by what people say about her as she knows she's different to others.

"No, it really doesn't bother me when people tell me I’m crazy because I am," she told Channel Seven Sunrise presenters David Koch and Sam Armytage.

"The thing is, my dad always told me the most important thing - and I grew up around people like Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton and those people are not normal.

"It's always been the way you treat people and I have had the greatest examples of that. There's many girls that I know... who come out... and they will be all polite. But in person they are not so polite. And they are not so kind."

Miley's interview came as she gave an impassioned performance in front of the iconic Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge, belting out renditions of her hits Wrecking Ball and We Can't Stop. She did so in a high-legged leotard by Di$count Univer$e.

She explained that, while she goes wild on stage, when she's out of the public eye she is much calmer.

"I hope, all the time, I have heard, my reputation is a good one. I say hello to everybody and I treat everybody the same," she explained. "I actually treat people at the bottom of the list much better that the people at the top, because the people at the top have enough people sucking up to them."

Dolly is the star's godmother and Miley has learnt a lot from the country legend. She explained that before a show, Dolly always talks to the venue's janitor before anyone else, and she hopes to treat others in the same way.

"If anyone thinks I'm crazy I would rather be crazy than not a nice person," she added.
