Miley Cyrus reportedly acts over the top because she doesn't think she's "beautiful enough" to get attention in any other way.
The 22-year-old star has shocked the world with her antics over the last few years, which started with her cutting and bleaching her hair bright blonde and opting for a raunchy wardrobe.
"Miley confessed to friends that she overacts because she believes she's not beautiful enough to get noticed in other ways, and feels insecure about her looks," an insider told British magazine Closer. "She says she is determined to turn the way she feels about her appearance into something that gives her a place in the industry that's based around your looks. Her friends reassured Miley that she's beautiful and she doesn't need to act up."
And Miley needn't feel worried about her appearance anymore with handsome boyfriend Patrick Schwarzenegger by her side, who she began dating last year.
Last month the singer attended Elton John AIDS Foundation’s Oscar Viewing Party looking cute in a modest Schiaparelli couture jumpsuit. However that didn't mean she tamed down her behaviour as sources report Miley still tried to be the centre of attention at the event, despite not wearing her usual revealing ensembles.
"Miley tried to be wild at the party, speaking loudly and getting drunk. She usually wears very little clothing, but knowing she'd be among the most beautiful women in Hollywood, she refused to wear a dress, as she was anxious about how she'd look next to them," the source added.
