In the old days, baseball parks had fireworks nights, old-timers day and bat giveaways but its been very rare that they have gone the route of heavy metal.

On May 3, the world champion San Francisco Giants will have the first ever Metallica Night at AT&T Park as they face the Los Angeles Dodgers. The band will be on hand to sing the National Anthem and throw out the first pitch along with, in the words of the band, "joining the orange and black fanatics with Metallica vibes and shenanigans throughout the evening."

Fans attending that night will also get a collector's-edition Metallica Giants cap.

A portion of the proceeds will go to the Bill Graham Foundation which strives to give grants in the area of music, the arts, and education, while also supporting social work, environmental protection, and spiritual and compassionate projects in the San Francisco area community.
