Mel C thankful for 'sensible' stage attire

Mel C is glad she wore "sensible" shoes during the London 2012 Olympics closing ceremony.

The singer reunited with her Spice Girls bandmates Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Mel B and Geri Halliwell for the impressive show last month.

The five-piece performed on custom-designed taxis and Mel says speeding around on top of the vehicles made for an exhilarating experience.

"I think we were doing about 20mph and we were nervous. I think some of the girls had quite high heels on! Sporty, of course, is always sensible in trainers, so I was fine," she smiled in an interview with UK magazine Heat, in reference to her Sporty Spice moniker.

"But a lot of things could have gone wrong, so we had like waves of excitement, nervousness, all those different things going on."

Mel has also revealed the Spice Girls' pre-performance ritual.

"We always do when we get together," she said. "We warm up together and do a little song and dance. When we were on tour, we used to do a little prayer. It was quite tongue-in-cheek - we got together and all held hands."
