Mel B has a new £20,000 wedding ring.
The former Spice Girl is currently acting as a judge on the UK edition of The X Factor. And after Sunday night’s result show, her husband Stephen Belafonte arrived unexpectedly to surprise her with the gift.
“My husband turned up and I thought something was wrong and then he just handed me this massive sparkler of a ring,” she revealed to British newspaper The Mirror. “I thought, ‘Oh my God’. It’s so big, it’s gorgeous, I absolutely love it.”
The dazzling present consists of a large square diamond surrounded by dozens of smaller, sparkling gems. The couple married in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2007 and the 39-year-old made a promise to his famous wife which he maintains to this day.
“He’s very sweet like that my husband. Every couple of years he gets me an upgrade,” she added.
Thoughtful Stephen bought the rock from Leon Diamond in New York. But he didn’t wait until they were reunited across the pond to present it to his other half. Instead, he flew in especially from the Big Apple to gift it to her. The couple have one child together, three-year-old daughter Madison, and Mel is also stepmom to Stephen’s daughter Giselle. The Stop singer also has daughter Phoenix Chi, 15, from her first marriage to dancer Jimmy Gulzar and a seven-year-old daughter Angel Iris from her relationship with actor Eddie Murphy.
Her offspring travel with her the majority of the time but she revealed earlier this year it’s unlikely they will be following in her footsteps and having a career in music.
“My kids can't sing,” she told the Daily Mail Australia. “If they were really good at singing I wouldn't have a problem, but my kids can't sing that well. They'll sing [Disney's] Frozen but it's not like, 'Oh my God they're incredible' - they're just being kids.”
