‘Sudden Death’ by Megadeth and ‘Black Rain’ by Soundgarden, both first released on ‘Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock’ have become the first two original songs created for a videogame to be nominated for a Grammy Award.

Megadeth’s ‘Sudden Death’ is up fro Best Metal Performance while Soundgarden ‘Black Rain’ has been nominated for ‘Best Hard Rock Performance’.

“From the first time I played Guitar Hero in Paris several years ago until recently getting my ass handed to me playing at an Activision event in San Francisco, this has been the most fun and most rewarding track I have ever written,” said Dave Mustaine of Megadeth.

Megadeth are up against Iron Maiden ‘El Dorado’, Korn ‘Let The Guilt Go’, Lamb of God ‘In Your Words and Slayer ‘World Painted Blood’.

Soundgarden are competing with Alice In Chains ‘A Looking In View’, Ozzy Osbourne ‘Let Me Hear You Scream’, Stone Temple Pilots ‘Between The Lines’ and Them Crooked Vultures ‘New Fang’.

The 53rd Annual Grammy Awards will be held on February 13.
