Max George has reportedly been banned from seeing Lindsay Lohan.

The Wanted singer struck up a friendship with the troubled actress last year, admitting they had shared a kiss but insisting they weren't an official couple.

They were due to hang out in Los Angeles last month, but things didn't work out due to Lindsay's court appearance. She was sentenced to 90 days in rehab after pleading no contest to charges linked to a car crash last year. Those close to Max - including his bandmates Nathan Sykes, Siva Kaneswaran, Jay McGuiness and Tom Parker - are now said to be telling him to cut ties with Lindsay as she might damage his reputation.

"Lindsay is not the best person for a teen-friendly band to be associated with," an insider told Heat magazine. "The boys all think she's great but they don't want Max to get hurt, or for his connection with her to jeopardise things."

Part of the problem is said to be a new reality TV show the group are shooting in America, which will air on the E! channel.

Max's spokesperson has insisted he hasn't been barred from seeing Lindsay.

This isn't the first time there have been reports of Lindsay and Max's burgeoning romancing causing problems. In 2012 it was claimed the band were concerned being associated with the 26-year-old star could have a negative effect.

"Ever since Max and Lindsay started hooking up several weeks ago, his fellow band members have found the amount of unwanted attention the group has received horrifying,” a source revealed at the time. “They have worked very hard to get where they are, and yes, the boys do party, but Lindsay brings all of her nonsense and drama."
