Mariah Carey has had to cancel one of her Vegas shows.

The American hitmaker took up residency at Caesars Palace on May 6, but has had to pull out of a performance just a week later due to illness.

Taking to her Instagram account, Mariah told fans how sorry she was, explaining she'd been struck down with bronchitis.

"Hey guys I've been fighting bronchitis for the past few days.. almost better but on mandatory vocal rest per doctor's orders. I'm so sorry to cancel tonight's show but I promise to make it up to you!!! Love you always, MC (sic)," she posted.

Fans were only told of the cancellation last minute, after turning up at the venue to be with greeted with a sign telling them the gig would not be going ahead.

TMZ reports that only one show has been cancelled, with the singer now having her scheduled days off until her next performance.

In the week that it's been on, the 45-year-old singer's Vegas residency, Mariah #1 to Infinity, has been a hit.

It's not been all work and no play in Sin City for her though; last week she ended up on stage at the Chippendales show after going along to see her friend Tyson Beckford.

"She came to see the new celebrity guest host, supermodel Tyson Beckford," a source tells E! News. "She was brought on stage to be Tyson's queen during the Empire number and she loved it."

Taking to her Instagram afterwards, Mariah uploaded a shot of her on a throne with a tiara and sunglasses on, surrounded by a bare-chested Tyson and another hunky performer.

"Again, I've no idea how I got here!! @chippendales (sic)," she captioned the snap.
