Madonna says touring is “exhausting”.

The 56-year-old singer will be travelling the world with her upcoming Rebel Heart Tour, which kicks off in Miami, Florida, on August 29th.

And while veteran performer Madonna is looking forward to getting back on the road again, she admits there are aspects of touring that take their toll on her.

“I love it, but it's also exhausting,” Madonna told US TV show Extra. “Sometimes you don't want to do a show, but there's 20,000 people out there waiting for you, so you have no choice!”

Madonna spoke to the news outlet backstage at the iHeartRadio Music Awards on Sunday, after performing her new track Ghosttown alongside Taylor Swift.

And she admitted in the interview that it was refreshing to take to the stage at the event because it was so different from her usual performances.

“For me it was different because I was focused more on just singing a song,” she said. Joking about her on-stage fall at the Brit Awards last month, Madonna continued: “Usually when I do shows, it’s much more bigger production numbers or capes are yanking me off stage and things like that.”

Despite the fact that Madonna’s tour doesn’t kick off for another couple of months, the majority of the stops are already sold out.

Madonna added that the popularity of the tour is affirmation for her that she still has fans all over the world.

“People still want to see me live,” she said. “Praise the lord, praise the lord!”
