Madonna thinks judging someone by their age is “bullsh*t”.

The 56-year-old Queen of Pop has been condemned by a few critics for working like she does, with some attempting to discredit her as someone too old to be a sexy star.

But Madonna is convinced people are fabulous in all epochs of their lives and she despises ageism.

"I feel like it's a form of discrimination that still has not been dealt with and it should be. I think it should be as verboten as making racist remarks or making homophobic remarks, judging somebody by their age," she told Access Hollywood. "It's sexist and it's ageist and it's bullsh*t."

Madonna is mother to four children - Lourdes, 18, Rocco, 14, David, eight, and Mercy, eight.

And the music icon is convinced the best way to inform her children on healthy ways to approach sexual intercourse is by talking to them about it honestly.

"It's just a fact of life isn't it? Somehow, it's gonna happen sometime. It happened to you, so it's gonna happen to [Lourdes]," she noted. "All you can do is [stress] safe sex. Have discussions about it and encourage her to be open with you about it and not judgmental."

Earlier this month Madonna formally announced she’ll be performing a slew of shows in North America and Europe on her Rebel Heart Tour, which kicks off at the close of August.

The star is happy with her Rebel Heart album, admitting she has a few favourite songs from the offering.

"I have a few, Ghost Town, and 'Unapologetic B***h and Devil Prey," she said, noting her track Living for Love is a song of hope. “It's not about dwelling and living in bitterness or getting caught up in bitterness, but moving on, moving through it, learning from it and still being hopeful.”
