Madonna is reportedly unhappy about her daughter's romance.

Lourdes Leon, 16, is dating Homeland actor Timothée Chalamet, who portrays the son of Vice President Walden on the American CIA TV show.

The couple met at the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in New York City and Madonna is apparently finding it hard to accept her daughter is growing up.

"They've been dating for around six months and are getting serious," an insider told Heat magazine. "But Madonna doesn't seem happy about it. She's strict with Lourdes and watches her closely, Lourdes and Timothée were originally friends, but it's obvious to everyone around them he's her boyfriend now."

Madonna, 54, is renowned for being a hard-line mother. Despite her celebrity she doesn't spoil her four kids, making them clean up after themselves and monitoring their homework and wardrobe choices.

She is apparently just as determined to make sure her daughter's relationship doesn't go too fast.

"All Madonna cares about is her daughter and she is fiercely protective. There are strictly no sleepovers allowed, and she always tries to keep tabs on them, which sometimes drives them both a bit mad," the source said.

The music icon had Lourdes with personal trainer Carlos Leon, who is regularly seen out and about with his daughter.

Two years ago he discussed how fatherhood has affected him, admitting he was unsure how he'd cope when his daughter started dating.

"I’m dreading it... because she’s my little girl. I want her to stay young forever," he said. "I’m already overprotective, so when the time comes, I will be ready to have a talk with the guy she brings through the door. He better be ready, because I’ll give him the rundown."
