Joel Madden has revealed a secret to keeping his marriage alive.
The Good Charlotte rocker wed the reality TV star-turned fashion designer in 2010.
And while Joel has never been known for his sense of style, he admits making an effort to impress his bride shows he cares.
“Always dress up for your girl,” he wrote.
It seemed the couple was enjoying the first days of Spring together, with Nicole posting a photo of the pair taking a selfie shortly before Joel's remarks.
“Springtime Daydream,” she captioned the photo of herself with her dapper husband, who was wearing a crisp white shirt and black bowtie while she showed off her lavender locks and floral headpiece.
Joel and Nicole share two young children, daughter Harlow and son Sparrow.
Because their downtime is so rare, she’s said prioritising how she spends it is more important than ever.
"Motherhood makes you way more conscious of how you distribute your spare time," she recently told Marie Claire Mexico. "Kids are so precious that your priorities change completely."
Nicole has several business ventures vying for her attention.
She debuted a jewellery line named after her daughter, House of Harlow 1960, in 2008, and in 2010 it was extended to include apparel and shoes.
But the star insists she’s like any other mum trying to balance her personal life and career.
"I'm like any other working mother trying to make things work and dealing with this situation one day at a time. I have an amazing family and they've all been very supportive, my parents live only ten minutes away and my husband and his twin brother [Benji Madden] help me when I need it,” she said.
