Demi Lovato has had the “most painful week” since her dog died.

The 22-year-old revealed on Tuesday that her beloved puppy Buddy passed away in a tragic accident. TMZ later revealed the pooch had allegedly been ripped apart by a wild coyote in the singer’s back yard and that Demi had discovered his remains.

The Heart Attack songstress cancelled an appearance on Good Morning America on Thursday, but on Friday she took to her Instagram page to thank her supporters for their kind words.

“We can't thank you all enough. This has been the most painful week of my life but because Wilmer and I had so much love and support, I've been able to stay strong and will continue to get through this difficult time,” she began, referring to boyfriend of five years Wilmer Valderrama. “The out pour of love and support has been unbelievable and it means the world to us. Love you all tons and ton...(sic)”

The couple had welcomed Buddy into their home at the end of last year and have been left devastated by his premature death.

Alongside her words of thanks, Demi posted a heartbreaking montage of pictures of herself with the cute little white puppy.

Other shots show Buddy in a variety of dog clothing and standing on his back legs staring down the camera.

Earlier in the day, the singer posted a picture of text from her book Staying Strong.

“Yesterday's meditation. The past me helping the future me.(sic)” she wrote alongside it.

The page in question sees Demi telling herself that while time doesn’t completely heal wounds, it does help them subside and that one day, she will feel better.
