Adam Levine has been crowned the Sexiest Man Alive by People magazine.

The Maroon 5 frontman was revealed as the winner of this year's coveted title in a Twitter post from the publication on Tuesday evening.

Adam follows in the footsteps of Channing Tatum, Brad Pitt and George Clooney, and revealed in an interview with People he thought the news was a joke.

"As a musician, you have fantasies that you want to win Grammys, but I didn't really think that this was on the table. I was just amazed and stunned and it almost seemed like they were kidding, but they weren't, so that's cool," Adam mused.

Despite the title, Adam is off the market. The Voice mentor announced his engagement to Victoria's Secret model Behati Prinsloo in July.

But Adam, 34, admits he didn't always believe marriage was in the cards.

"I didn't think marriage was for me for a long time. I was ready when I was ready. That's about as simple as it could possibly be," he said in the interview.

Adam has been linked to a number of beauties in the past, including 21-year-old Danish model Nina Agdal.
The singer and Behati briefly split in March, and Adam was seen taking a holiday with Nina in June, before the couple reportedly rekindled their romance.
