This summer, the UK's leading modern music college BIMM www.bimm.co.uk, will be offering budding musicians aged 11+ a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play along with members of some of the UK's most successful bands.

This year's line-up at the week long Summer Schools at BIMM Bristol and BIMM Brighton is the best yet, with the drummers from two of the UK's finest bands taking part in the week's activities.

Founding member of Elbow, Richard Jupp, will be joining students at BIMM Brighton Summer School for the week beginning Monday July 30th.

Elbow are a rare example of a slow-burning success, having released their first album in 2001, building on a number of show-stealing performances at music festivals, most notably Glastonbury Festival in 2008.

Elbow were awarded The Mercury Music Prize in the same year, and have also won hatfuls of Brits and NME awards along the way. Elbow have just completed work on the music for The BBC's 2012 Olympics coverage.

Jon Brookes takes time out from preparations for The Charlatans' 15th anniversary tour to attend the BIMM Bristol Summer School for the week beginning Monday August 6th.

For the uninitiated, The Charlatans are best known for being part of the Manchester music explosion of the early 1990s and each one of their 11 albums has featured prominently in the Top 40 Albums chart. Their upcoming tour will see them celebrate their seminal album "Telling Stories".

Guitarist Massimo Fiocc, from British alt-metal band One Minute Silence, will visit the Brighton Metal Hammer Summer School. One Minute Silence have sold over 500,000 million albums and been voted "Best British Live Act" by the UK's rock magazines.

Jessie Wood, guitarist with The Black Swan Effect and son of Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood, will be giving out prizes at the Brighton Total Guitar Summer School while rock band Radio Alcatraz will be doing the honours at the Metal Hammer Summer School. Each Summer School week will conclude with live performances and exclusive prize giveaways for everyone attending. Sponsors include Orange, Black Amp, Peavey and Zildjian plus subscriptions giveaways of Total Guitar and Metal Hammer magazines.

Incidentally, can you guess the musical link between the Foo Fighters, Toyah Wilcox, Alien Sex Fiend, Ke$ha, Gwar and the cast of Glee? Yes, they all covered the title track from Alice Cooper 1972 album School's Out.
