Kylie Minogue has named the British Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations as one of her career highlights.
The Australian singer recalled the incredible atmosphere at the recent London event and described the experience as 'surreal'. However, Kylie added that her 25-year career also includes plenty of special, smaller moments.
'I just added one [highlight] to my list of big moments, the Jubilee in London, which was just extraordinary. It was like European Disneyland or something, it was just a beautiful atmosphere. The palace looked so incredible, fireworks, and I met the Queen. Her Majesty, the people. It was a surreal experience. So that was big, and the closing of the ceremony at the 2000 Olympics in Sidney was immense,' she told celebrity blogger Perez Hilton.
'But there's the little moments as well. The big ones are easy to pick out and talk about but there are lots of small triumphs, you know, being terrified and going out and doing something.'
Kylie also revealed the moment that sparked her incredibly successful pop career. Starring in Australian soap Neighbours from the age of 18, the former actress explained she put together a band with her co-stars for a fundraiser.
'There was a charity concert for some football club, and I always say that any given team of actors, you can create a band. Someone sings, someone plays the guitar. So we threw this band together, and performed Locomotion at this event. I said, 'Let's do Locomotion, it's pretty easy. We can get away with that!'' she said.
'And yeah, so here's the pop fairytale moment. A guy who worked at same channel as where we filmed Neighbours produced a music show. He came up to me and said, 'Hey it's great, you should make a record.' I had stars in my eyes, I'm like 'Oh my God, imagine making a video'. I'm so busy. And I cut a demo of Locomotion, and the rest would bore you to tears, but that's kind of how it happened.'
