Classic country singer Kenny Rogers will release his autobiography, Luck or Something Like It, on October 2 via William Morrow.

Rogers has taken particular pride in his new book (see video below) because he wrote it himself, in his own voice, avoiding any misinterpretations of his career that can come when using a ghost writer. He talks of his childhood in the Houston projects and his father's alcoholism. Kenny credits the latter with his ability to avoid the common pitfalls of abuse that befall so many in music.

He also talks about his mother's wisdom and work ethic, something that he has used throughout his career even when facing adversity such as the breakup of the First Edition and the various valleys in his music popularity.

Along the way are some of the greats of music from Ray Charles to duet partners Dottie West and Dolly Parton and his unlikely artistic pairing with Lionel Richie. Also laid out is his personal life including his five marriages.
