Kelly Clarkson: I try to impress beau

Kelly Clarkson says that coming home to an empty house was not great motivation to shed her excess 30 pounds.

The singer has been wowing fans recently with her new slimline figure and blonde tresses.

But she revealed to Extra TV that dating boyfriend Brandon Blackstock was the motivation she needed to get into shape.

'I got a boyfriend, right? When you're going home alone, you don't care as much, but when you're going home, trying to impress people, you're worried a little bit,' she confessed.

Kelly also revealed that she was excited that one of her heroes is now going to be a judge on American Idol.

'I'm kind of super-proud that I'm from the show and Mariah Carey's going to be on it,' Kelly gushed. 'Just because I'm a huge fan of hers.'

But she says that she would not want to be a judge on the show herself.

'I don't like the judging part of it. That's what I liked about Duets,' she explained. 'I got to actually mentor them and it was more fun.'

'I don't think I'd be honest. I think I'd get home and be like, 'Did you see that, boy? He was bad! I don't think I'd say that on TV because people would hate me!'
