Kelly Clarkson “isn’t competing” with any other female artists in the industry.

The singer is set to release her new album, Stronger, later this month.

She believes the sound is unlike anything else in the charts at the moment.

“Personally or musically I don’t think I’m like anyone,” she told British magazine We Love Pop. “Katy Perry, Rihanna, Ke$ha or Lady Gaga are very different to me, so I’m not competing.”

The Since You’ve Been Gone singer admits that it is difficult to be creative in the current music scene.

Kelly claims that a lack of money in the industry means it is harder to grow as an artist.

“I think any artist will tell you that it's a very formulaic industry nowadays,” she explained. “There’s no room for experimentation because there’s no money for artist development. “

Kelly shot to fame after winning the first season of American Idol.

However, she confessed that she could never be a Simon Cowell-type judge.

“I could do the mentor thing but I’d never be a judge,” she insisted. “I could never do what the judges on American Idol or The X Factor do. I’m very honest but I wouldn’t be able to break someone’s heart and shatter their dreams.”
