Katy Perry says working with Bonnie McKee "is like an emotional abuse session".
Katy is currently in the studio laying down tracks for her third album. The popstar is working with a number of artists on the record, including fellow American singer/songwriter Bonnie. The pair previously collaborated on hit singles California Gurls and Teenage Dream.
"Bonnie and I argue [like] we're in the ring fighting for the best lyric," Katy told Billboard magazine. "Working with her is like an emotional abuse session," the star added.
Katy has also recorded new tracks with songwriters and producers including Sia, Max Martin, Dr. Luke, Greg Wells, Greg Durston and others. One of the tracks laid down by the singer, 28, with the help of Bonnie and Greg is called Double Rainbow.
Katy is "halfway through" her new album. But the singer won't put pressure on herself to complete it until she has agreed upon a date for it to hit stores.
'When I put myself on a timeline, when I tell the record company when I want to release the album, that's when the race starts,' she said during a session at the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers I Create Music Expo. 'That's when I put pressure on myself.'
Katy was recently spotted at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival taking in performances by Purity Ring, M83 and Sia. The singer's new album will follow up her hit 2010 release Teenage Dream, which spawned five Hot 100 No. 1 singles.
