Kasabian's Sergio reveals he spends his time tending his allotment when not on tour.

Absolute Radio’s Pete Donaldson and Sarah Champion spoke to Serge from Kasabian backstage in the Hard Rock VIP area at Hard Rock Calling before the guys took to the stage as the very first headliners ever at the Olympic Park.

Serge talks about tending his runner beans and tomatoes when he’s not on tour with Kasabian. “I like getting home for about 2 weeks and then go back in the studio and start working. I’m always in the studio at home and also looking after the allotment, you know, watching out for the runner beans and tomatoes”

Serge said “We’re blown away by it you know. When we were asked to do it we were preparing to take a year off but we couldn’t turn down Hard Rock and the Olympic Park. I mean they’ve even laid astro turf – I’ve got my short studs on”

Serge reveals an embarrassing moment with Peter Crouch and Miles Kane at the side of stage “We watched him from the side of the stage with Peter Crouch. I gave Miles the eyes and I waved at him. He waved back but then I realised he was waving at Peter crouch. Wasn’t a good look. Crouchy is the only man that’s taller than me at Hard Rock Calling”

Serge heaped praise on Miles Kane. “Miles killed it the crowd were insane. “He’s a beautiful man - just as a human being he’s very special”

On his football skills and shoddy DIY “The only two things I can do well is Rock N Roll and play football. You wouldn’t want me round your house though. I can’t put up shelves, I cant feed the cat - I’m terrible”

Serge comments on the increasing number of ladies underwear being thrown at them on stage.” To be honest there’s no more than normal. Yeah - the roadies take home all the bras and knickers that get thrown on stage”

He talks about working with Noel Fielding “ I love working with Noel you know – there’s plenty more in the pipeline and he’s working on a new series at the moment”
