Kanye West believes casting Idris Elba as James Bond is a “visionary” idea.

Hackers leaked Sony Pictures Entertainment emails online earlier this month, and in one of these messages company Chairwoman Amy Pascal noted: “Idris should be the next Bond”.

Since then the Internet has erupted with speculation as to whether the Prometheus star will indeed play 007 in the future, and Kanye lends his opinion on the possibility.

“Artists should be visionaries. A black James Bond would be visionary no doubt,” the rapper told British newspaper The Sun.

“Something that 30 years ago would have seemed crazy should now be something that is a real possibility.”

Kanye is moved by Idris’ acting ability.

He thinks the 42-year-old London-born thespian is incredibly innovative with his craft.

“I know Idris a little bit and he is a big talent. The movies he has been making are special, and when the role for James Bond comes up it needs to be his,” the 37-year-old Grammy-winning musician noted.

“James Bond is a role made for British actors and you won’t find a British actor who has the talent of Idris.

"To be honest you won’t find many anywhere who have his talent.”

Idris himself recently addressed the public’s 007 excitement with a charming tweet.

“Isn’t 007 supposed to be handsome?” the heartthrob wrote, with a silly selfie attached to the message.

Idris has no shortage of work, as the Hollywood A-lister is releasing five movies in 2015, including Beasts of No Nation, A Hundred Streets, The Gunman, Avengers: Age of Ultron and The Jungle Book.
