Kanye West's father used to be a paparazzo.
Last year the rapper was accused of attacking a photographer outside LAX airport and damaging his camera.
The man in question, Daniel Ramos, pressed charges, and during a deposition Kanye, 37, revealed he has strong connections to the profession.
"My father was a paparazzo himself. My father was a medical illustrator, a Black Panther, a Christian marriage counsellor," West told Ramos' lawyer during his deposition, according to MailOnline.
"My mother was the first black chair of the English department in Chicago State. They didn't raise me to be out here wrestling with random paparazzi in front of LAX."
The star's strong views on paparazzi and privacy are well known, and he has previously commented he prefers Paris due to its stricter laws about taking people's pictures.
However, Kanye insists he doesn't feel the same way about everyone in the job.
"Sometimes I get in the car with the paparazzi. Paparazzi help me to park," he told Daniel's lawyer Nate Goldberg.
"The paparazzi watch my car and makes sure that cops don't give me tickets. There are some nice guys out here trying to just feed their family.
"And then there's an [expletive] like the guy you're representing."
Daniel claims he suffered physical and emotional effects after the incident last year.
"I tried to stop his camera and stuff, he fell down, faked it and everyone was saying, 'Why did you hit this guy?' I didn't hit him," the musician insists.
Kanye pled no contest to a misdemeanour battery charge stemming from the incident. He was sentenced to two years probation, 24 anger management sessions and 250 hours of community service.
It's believed this deposition was in connection with a civil lawsuit.
