Justin Bieber’s battery case will be taken “seriously”, with the victim apparently eager for the singer to be prosecuted.

The pop star has been accused of assaulting a fellow resident of his gated Los Angeles community.

It is believed Justin upset locals by speeding around the neighbourhood in his Ferrari, leading one man to confront him this week. He apparently decided to speak to Justin because several residents were concerned for their safety after the singer drove around the area reaching speeds of 100 mph.

Justin is said to have reacted angrily when the man visited his property on Tuesday, allegedly spitting in his face and threatening to kill him.

According to TMZ, law enforcement sources claim the case will be referred to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office. The allegations will then be reviewed and the matter will be taken “seriously”, leading to possible prosecution.

The unidentified victim - described as a 47-year-old successful businessman and father-of-three - has been fully co-operating with authorities and allegedly wants Justin to be prosecuted.

The LA District Attorney’s office reportedly doesn’t take kindly to spitting crimes.

TMZ reports that sources close to the department say the act is considered “aggressive” and “disgusting” and is treated seriously because it poses a health risk.

During the confrontation, Justin allegedly spat in the man’s face and yelled, “Get the f**k out of here. I'm gonna f**king kill you."

The 19-year-old singer’s security team then escorted the neighbour off his property.

Justin has insisted he never attacked or spat at the man. He also contends the complainant was actively trespassing throughout the incident.
