Musical eccentric John Ottway visits hmv to perform a short set and sign copies of his new film ‘Otway The Movie: Rock ‘n’ Roll’s Greatest Failure”.

In keeping with its subject’s unpredictable erratic nature, “Otway The Movie” was still being filmed and edited as fans arrived at its red carpet premier. Amongst it’s rave reviews is The Guardian’s assertion that the documentary is ‘fantastically engaging, the very definition of feelgood film-making.’ Total film write that ‘Barker’s portrait is infectiously affectionate. You warm to Otway as he pursues bonkers fancies, like ‘Ot Air’ world tours by a crowd-funded jet plane. So what if it flops? His next one scores: How about a movie...”

Famous for his self-deprecating wit and surreal sense of humour, John Ottway has been an active musician since 1969, maintaining a cult following ever since thanks to an extensive touring schedule. John’s first foray into recorded music included production by The Who’s Pete Townsend, he appeared on Top of The Pops, sustained an embarrassing injury on Old Grey Whistle Test, has written several autobiographies, given lectures on adopting a positive outlook, performed for 4,000 fans at Royal Albert Hall, co-written a surreal rock opera and been crowned the nation’s seventh favourite lyricist by a BBC poll.

John’s bizarre publicity stunts have included ‘Disco Inferno’ parody track ‘Bunsen Burner’ and limited edition albums pressed without vocals. The lucky recipients of these albums were entitled to host a performance by John in their homes.
