John Mayer is reportedly desperate to have a baby with Katy Perry.

The couple first got together in 2012 and had an on/off romance before going their separate ways last year. Although she was later linked to stars including Diplo and Riff Raff, the couple are thought to have reunited following her storming performance at the Super Bowl half-time show.

"John adores Katy and has been a mess since their last breakup," an insider told the American edition of OK! magazine. "He wants to start a family."

Apparently the relationship is very different this time around, as both Katy and John have changed. They now realise what they want out of both life and a romance and believe they can only find that with each other.

In fact, things are going so well there are whispers the couple could be planning to tie the knot. There is speculation they might exchange vows in April, with Katy's hometown of Santa Barbara the frontrunner for a venue.

Neither has spoken about their apparently reignited romance at the moment, although John made no secret of his admiration for his ex following her Super Bowl performance.

Shortly afterwards he guest hosted a US talk show and jokingly invited the giant toy sharks who danced with her on stage on as his guests. He mock interviewed them and then later spoke of his admiration for Katy to Andy Cohen, another of his guests.

"It was unbelievable," John gushed. "And I think the whole thing about the sharks, everybody wants to talk about the sharks because it's just something everyone can grab onto because not everyone feels comfortable walking around saying that Katy Perry was amazing.

“So they use the sharks as kind of, 'Guys, love the sharks.' It's like, you have nothing bad to say about the performance, do you? 'No, I don't.' Because if they did, you'd hear about it. She made the internet a kind, gentle place for a day. It was awesome."
