John Legend plans to perform at his wedding - but won't take song requests.
The singer has been engaged to model Chrissy Teigen since 2011 and she recently confirmed they will tie the knot in Lake Como in September.
She previously explained that due to their busy schedules their wedding planner has been handling most of the details, although John does plan to take to the stage on the big day.
"Even if she's wrong, she's right! That goes for everything. I'm getting married soon and to be fair she listens to me... but she's always right," he giggled to Q magazine when asked for relationship tips. "The wedding won't be small but not too large, it's mostly family. I just have a big family. Am I playing? I'll probably do a song or two. Do I take requests? No, I'm not into wedding bands."
John touched on many pieces of advice during the interview. He fears young artists get too caught up in the wrong things and has no time for those who display diva behaviour. It's something he has seen a lot and he can never understand artists who are so demanding.
"My production company is working on a comedy about music managers. I'm not writing it but I'll give them lots of material. I've had good managers, no horror stories, but it's an interesting business, man. It breeds insecurity and there's a lot of narcissists. It's a business of insecure narcissists!" he laughed. "People who have those 'Don't look at me in the hallway!' rules are insecure. I feel sorry for them. I don't demand a certain flavour of M&Ms."
John is good friends with rapper Kanye West, who has produced a lot of his music. He is in awe of the hip-hop star's knowledge of music and was in no doubt that teaming up with him would be a good idea in the long run.
"I decided to sign with Kanye's production company after a year together. When you sign with someone like that you give something up; you give up money and you give up some control. In exchange though you get a real partner who is advocating for you, creating for you and helping you become a better artist. I always tell people, it's better to have a smaller percentage of a large pie than a hundred per cent of a small pie," he explained.
