Joe Jonas feels like “the old man on campus” in comparison to today’s pop stars.

Despite being only 22 years old, the singer already views himself as a veteran performer when surrounded by up-and-coming acts. As one third of the hugely successful Jonas Brothers, Joe is supportive and encouraging about the new crop of boy bands.

“I’m a big fan of certain new acts. I love any genre of music, and I think it’s really great to see that there are new artists coming through,” Joe said. “It’s kinda funny to think that I’m like the old man on campus now. But I’m really happy for groups like One Direction. I think they’re really good guys.”

Fans of the Jonas Brothers can look forward to them reuniting as a singing trio as they have a new album in the pipeline. Joe will also appear in a music talent show called The Next: Fame Is At Your Doorstep, which is a twist on the usual format of American Idol type contests.

“The difference is that we’re moving in with these people. Gloria Estefan, Nelly, [musician] John Rich, and myself, literally knock on your door and say, ‘Hey! We have 72 hours to get you ready to perform for a national audience,’” Joe told Parade.

“It’s just hilarious. We have to take on their jobs and chores around the house while they prepare. Seeing Gloria Estefan on a lawn mower is just really funny. It’s like The Simple Life and a music show put together.”
