Jessie J sought advice from her mother about “looking hot” on her new album cover.
The 26-year-old British singer is currently promoting her third studio LP, Sweet Talker, which is released in October.
She is photographed wearing black lingerie with heels on the offering’s cover and Jessie says her mum convinced her to get sexy for the shoot.
“I just wanted to look hot [on the album cover]. Why not? Get it out,” Jessie told MTV News. “As my mum said, ‘Go on, girl! Get your belly out! Get your legs out!’”
The songstress has released her first single from the album to much acclaim. The track, Bang Bang, features guest vocalists Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj.
And Jessie thinks fans will also be riveted by Sweet Talker’s title track.
“It’s like almost I’m saying I want people to sweet-talk with me. Let’s be a little bit risky and dangerous and live on the edge,” she explained.
Jessie took to the stage with Ariana and Nicki to perform Bang Bang at the MTV VMAs last weekend. But Nicki was forced to spend most of her time onstage trying to hold her dress together after the top split during the show.
Jessie entered the industry with her debut single Do It Like a Dude in 2010 and has gone on to find international fame with her albums Who You Are and Alive.
The veteran singer recently spoke about how she appreciates all the controversy her fellow pop stars are generating right now.
“I feel like pop’s taken a really good turn at the moment; I feel like artists are experimenting,” she told Refinery29. “That’s what music should be about: pushing boundaries."
