Jessica Simpson says sister Ashlee “inspires me everyday”.
The Weight Watchers spokeswoman posted a touching birthday tribute to her younger sibling as she marked turning 30.
Alongside a stunning picture of Ashlee in a lace dress, Jessica wrote: “Happy Birthday Ashlee! There is no one I believe in more than you. Thank you for inspiring me everyday. I love you!!! #dirty30.”
The sisters have always had a close bond, with Jessica taking on the role of bridesmaid when Ashlee married Evan Ross earlier this year. Ashlee was also a bridesmaid for Jessica as she wed Eric Johnson this summer.
Ashlee recently spoke about her love for Jessica, and how inspiring she found her sister’s fashion sense as they were growing up.
"I've always borrowed her clothes," Ashlee told Us Weekly. "It's fun to go into her wardrobe and do something different because I'm half-tomboy, half-bohemian. It's fun to have her dress me up… I was either a doll for her growing up, or the one who messed her shoes up!"
The pair haven’t always had an entirely drama-free relationship, however.
Back in 2004, Ashlee explained that her song Shadow was about living in the shadow of her famous sister.
I was dealing with my inner demons, and my inner voices in my head,” Ashlee told the New York Times at the time.
"It wasn't necessarily my parents being bad parents. It was just things that I battled with in my head. Feeling second best, or feeling that they didn't love me. But the song's saying: 'Guys, I apologise, if I ever put you guys through hell. I love you, and love my life, and thank you for letting me be myself, even though I messed up at times.'"
