Jay Z, Calvin Harris and Will Smith are reportedly collaborating on a comedy series with HBO.

Deadline reports the trio are working on a half-hour fictional series called Higher, “set in the world of electronic music”.

The project is reportedly being penned by Trainspotting writer Irvine Welsh and developed by UK DJ Calvin.

Will is expected to serve as an executive producer on the project alongside his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, and fellow Overbrook Entertainment EPs James Lassiter and Miguel Melendez.

Calvin will also take on the role alongside Three Six Zero Group executive producers Mark Gillespie and Dean Wilson while Jay’s Marcy Media brings the rapper to the table alongside Jay Brown and Tyran “Ty Ty” Smith.

As Deadline reports, Jay and Will are building on the business relationship, having already signed on to produce the upcoming movie musical version of Annie, starring Jamie Foxx and Quvenzhané Wallis.

Jay also teamed with HBO executives on performance art film, Picasso Baby, last year.

The project was filmed as the rapper performed the song from his album Magna Carta Holy Grail for six straight hours at New York City's Pace Gallery.

The rapper is leading this year’s Grammy nominations, with a total of nine nods including Best Rap Album for Magna Carta Holy Grail and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for his collaboration with Justin Timberlake on Suit & Tie.

Calvin nabbed two nominations this year, including Best Dance Recording for Sweet Nothing and Best Dance/Electronica Album for 18 Months.
