Janis Joplin's 70th birthday commemorated

January 19th marks icon Janis Joplin’s 70th birthday and to celebrate the life and music of the beloved electric blues singer Legacy Recordings has announced that she is their first Artist of the Month.

Each month the new series will offer fans new content, contests and chances to participate in commemorating a music icon reaching a significant milestone.

Legacy's Artist of the Month will provide fresh perspectives on an essential cornerstone catalog of pop music history whose sounds continue to affect people's lives.

Joplin was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995 and posthumously given a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005.
