Selena Gomez puts her health before anything else.

The singer-and-actress has had a turbulent year, and checked into rehab for two weeks in January. It was never confirmed why the star visited the Dawn at the Meadows treatment centre, but her representative stated it had nothing to do with substance abuse.

Now, the 22-year-old adds that she would never jeopardise her wellbeing.

"My health is the most important thing!" she exclaimed to German magazine Bravo.

"I still want to be able to do the thing I love in ten years' time. And I want to leave a good, lasting impression."

Last year Selena embarked on the Stars Dance Tour to support her latest album. However, she cancelled the majority of her 2014 shows in order to take some time out.

Now she promises she's back and better than ever.

"Before the year is out you'll be hearing new music from me," she smiled.

She adds there are plenty more exciting ventures coming up, but she can't discuss them yet.

There were rumours Selena's on/off romance with bad-boy singer Justin Bieber was partially to blame for her rehab stint.

She's been in a turbulent relationship with the 20-year-old since 2010, and it's currently believed they're back together.

The stars were snapped looking cosy at Justin's friend Ryan Butler's birthday party on Sunday, with E! news claiming they were kissing and cuddling throughout the night.
