Geoff Tate’s version of Queensryche may have rushed their new album, Frequency Unknown, to the market a little too fast in their quest to get the set out before one from the competing version of the band.

Fans had been complaining about the mix of preview tracks and Tate even admitted there were problems. “We were a little rushed on the mixing end of it, so we’re having some of the songs remixed before the album comes out. That’s typical with records – you have to have them in on time. Luckily, with this situation, we get to go back and correct some areas where we thought it was kind of lacking. I’ve done that on probably three quarters of the records I’ve ever made.”
Except that work was never done. Billy Sherwood was hired by the label to clean up the production but he ended up dropping out before doing any work citing too much on his schedule, so the album went out as is.
