Disgraced 70s pop star Gary Glitter is set to make a comeback.
67-year old Glitter has opened a Twitter account at www.twitter.com/OfficialGlitter and announced a new album and a tour is on the way.
His most recent post a few moments ago was '#GlitterTour' and three hours before publication simple stated '#itsgoodtobeback'.
According to the Twitter page, Glitter's comeback album is titled 'Still Shining'. No tour dates were forthcoming.
The Twitter page is yet to be authenticated as real by Twitter but at this stage there has been no action to have it pulled down.
In the 70s, Gary Glitter was one of the world's biggest pop stars with hits like 'Rock and Roll Pt 1 and 2', 'I Didn't Know I Loved You Til I Saw You Rock and Roll', 'I'm The Leader Of The Gang' and 'Remember Me This Way'.
In November 1997 he was arrested after child porn was found on his hard-drive. He spent four months in prison in the UK in 1999 following his conviction on child pornography charges and is now listed as a registered sex offender in the UK.
After being released from prison Glitter moved to Cambodia but was deported on suspicion of child sexual abuse. He moved to Vietnam where in 2005 at age 61 where he was charged with molesting two underage girls aged 10 and 11. He was sentenced to three years jail but was released about three months. He then returned to London.
Gary Glitter last attempted to release a studio album titled 'On' back in 2001. It sold 5000 copies and quickly disappeared still immersed in the child porn scandal.
The first Gary Glitter album was 'Glitter' in 1972. 'Rock and Roll' and 'I Didn't Know I Loved You Til I Saw You Rock and Roll' were both Top 40 hits worldwide.
His second album 'Touch Me' was released in 1973. 'I'm The Leader Of The Gang' and 'Do You Want To Touch Me' were again Top 40 hits globally.
